La college de Loumana (US equivalent to JH) celebrate earth day with a campus clean-up

Just last week, I traveled the 13 km to a neighboring PCV site, Loumana.  I arrived in the morning and attended two of Jenny’s (SE Volunteer) math classes. I was really amazed at how she was able to command the classroom and her classes’ lack of typical garcon-dominated participation. Clearly, she was able to create a welcoming environment for girls to participate in (awwww, corny, but hat’s off for this feat).

In between sessions, Drissa, her counterpart gave a “sensibilisation” (aka a how-to in non-PC terms) for earth day on the importance of trash pick-up. (this may not seem like a big deal to the western-world until you see in peron, the Burkina recycling program…non-existant services and plastic sache bags everywhere!)
